My first theater role was Anne Sullivan in The Miracle Worker when I was 12 years old. I'd grab a bag of carrots and my script, climb a tree, and by the time the play opened, I was hooked on theater for life. But after performing in high school and college, I turned down an MFA opportunity and made the practical decision to become a lawyer. First as a litigator, and then in-house where I thought I would be able to act on the side, but alas, a lawyer's life is not one of having nights free, even when you're in-house. So three months after an executive coach told me that nothing suggested I should have been a business executive or even a lawyer, I quit my job, went back to acting full time, and have never looked back.
I've now been upstaged by a cat in The Flight Before Xmas, laid down the law in Romeo & Juliet, sported yellow stockings in Twelfth Night, shredded flowers in The Seagull, wrestled with demons in Ghosts, conjured elements in The Tempest, wore the perfect Little Black Dress in Love, Loss, and What I Wore, and wore very little else in Swinging Christmas. I've been a Mommy Dearest and a Karen, a kook and a crank, a mother and a lover, and noble men and noble women. I'm happiest on a stage or in front of a camera, be it comedy or drama, classical or contemporary, two minute audition, full-length film or short, or three-act play! (Apologies to my spouse and friends and dog!)
